Werner Erhard

... rather than adding more explanations for why people do what they do and why they don’t do what they don’t do, provides actionable access to the source of performance. ... opens up a new realm of opportunity for study and research, and for new and more effective interventions, applications, and practices for improving individual, group, and organizational performance.

A context is literally created by creating it. You just need to recognize that you have the power of context, and then you simply need to be willing to be responsible for creating it yourself, without reason, without the props of evidence - to simply say 'this shall be. I have the power of my word in my own universe. I have the power to determine the context of my own life. I give meaning to my life. The meaning doesn't come from outside.

At all times and under all circumstances, we have the power to transform the quality of our lives.

Being a leader requires that you are absolutely authentic, and true authenticity begins with being authentic about your inauthenticities, and almost no one does this.

Being alive is a privilege, I am the space, the clearing in which you occur for me.

Consider that all accomplishment is constituted by a series of resolved breakdowns.

Create your future from your future not your past.

Decide on a project for which you are willing to take complete responsibility. Complete the project successfully. Relate this achievement to others as an inspiration for them. Your willingness to express yourself may be just the trigger needed by someone else to do something for themselves. From now on, don’t wait for something to happen to you. Actually take responsibility for making something happen. Keep at it until you make it a successful experience for everyone. You can make the difference.

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much when your lips are moving.

I am not entertaining, I am also completely unreasonable.

I want you to shift your perspective from living your life, to being an actor playing the lead role in a play called your life.

In life you wind up with one of two things – the results or the reason why you don’t have the results. Results don’t have to be explained. They just are.

In the April, 1977 Graduate Review, Werner discusses the concept of enlightenment via est and how it relates to the self: "In the experience of enlightenment, the self ceases to be a thing stuck in a particular location or position. You are no longer that thing over there and I this thing over here. Instead, I experience myself as the space which that thing I call 'you' and that thing I call 'me' exists. As that unfolds, you have less and less attachment to that position, that thing which you have called yourself. Finally, there's no real distinction, in terms of what's important, between the thing you call yourself and the thing you call somebody else. That dichotomy begins to break down. When I discover MY self and when you discover YOUR self, you and I will discover the same self. So then, compassion becomes very NATURAL. Not something you do. In other words, one doesn't now ACT compassionate ‑‑ one IS compassionate in that the self recognizes ALL as itself.

Leaders do not act from a plan, but plan from their action. The planning is really a conversation which gives other people access to the possibility to which you are committed.

Life is a ripoff when you expect to get what you want. Life works when you choose what you got. Actually what you got is what you chose. To move on, choose it.

Man keeps looking for a truth that fits his reality. Given our reality, the truth doesn't fit.

Since now is the only time you have in reality and now will never seem to be the right time to act, one may as well act now. Even though “it isn’t the right time,” given that the “right time” will never come, acting now is, at the least, powerful (even if you don’t get to be right). Most people wait for the decisive moment, whereas people of power are decisive in the moment.

The problems we now have in communities and societies are going to be resolved only when we are brought together by a common sense that each of us is visionary. Each of us must come to the realization that we can function and live at the level of vision rather than following some great leader’s vision. Instead of looking for a great leader, we are in an era where each of us needs to find the great leader in ourselves.

There isn’t any motivation for notion that one needs for daily living. The notion that needs a motivation for daily living is only a notion. It is possible to live – to simply live. You don’t need to be motivated, in fact, motivation is added to life anyhow.

To be satisfied, to expand, you must first be where you are, and do what you are doing – no matter where you are and what you are doing.

Transformation is not an event. It doesn't have the properties of things or experiences. It has no position, no location in time, no beginning, no middle, and no end. It doesn't look like anything or feel like anything. You could say it’s a shift in the basis of experience from self as point of view or from self as direct experience to self as self, or self as simply being.

Until what is significant is created by you, you aren't living your life, you are living some inherited life.

We can discover another possibility: living in a way, now, moment to moment, that makes a difference to life. We discover that as human beings we can live in a possibility instead of in what we have inherited, that instead of just being a human being because we were born that way, we can declare the possibility of being for human beings. This is the work of transformation: bringing forth a breakthrough in the possibility of being human.

WHAT IS IS, AND WHAT AIN'T, AIN'T.

WHAT IS, IS; AND WHAT ISN´T, ISN´T. When that statement is considered thoughtfully rather than dismissed as sheer psychobabble, the world itself stops for a moment, and the mind becomes silent. There isn't anything to fix or change. In this moment of now, all is exactly as it is, and as it isn't, and it can be no other way. This is one definition of “perfect.”

You and I possess within ourselves, at every moment of our lives, under all circumstances, the power to transform the quality of our lives.

You are/ I am the clearing in which life occurs.
